Moving Company

Moving for the First Time?

When you submit an estimate request for a residential or commercial move, we will pair you up with a moving specialist. They will be your go-to person of contact for scheduling and questions throughout the entire moving process.

Our moving team will load your packed items into the moving truck on your moving day. We will also disassemble and assemble your furniture at no extra cost. After we load the truck, we will safely transport your belongings to your new home or office. Our moving team will then reassemble all of your furniture. Then we will unload everything to your chosen place before providing additional services, like unpacking.

Once everything is complete, you should survey your belongings. This way, you can make sure everything is accounted for in good condition before you sign off on completing your move.

What is the Cost of Hiring a Moving Company, and What Factors Influence the Price?

When considering hiring a moving company, understanding the cost factors is crucial. Here are some essential questions to ask when determining the cost of a moving company:

  • What services does the quoted price include? This varies between companies based on what services you need. Always clarify the specific services you need from your mover to determine the overall cost.
  • Do additional insurance options exist? Moving companies refer to ‘insurance’ of belongings as “valuation coverage.” Federal law requires a minimum coverage of 60 centers per pound. If you want more coverage, most moving companies offer it at an additional charge. For more information, see the “What Is the Company’s Policy on Damaged or Lost Items?” section below.
  • How is the pricing structure determined? Each moving company calculates charges differently. Some companies base pricing on weight, while others base their pricing around distance, time, or a combination of factors. Whichever method they use, make sure you are aware of how they are charging you.
  • Are there any hidden costs or extra fees in the moving price? Ask about any potential additional charges, such as fees for stairs, long carries, or fuel, to avoid unexpected costs.

Central Coast Movers is dedicated to providing transparent pricing upfront, so you know you are only paying for your moving requirements and not a penny more. We also guarantee no hidden fees of any kind, so there are no unpleasant surprises when you get the bill.

Considering these factors and asking the right questions will help you make an informed decision when selecting a moving company.

Does the Moving Company Provide a Comprehensive Quote and Contract Detailing All Costs and Services?

Prices for local moving services can vary among different moving companies. To obtain an accurate estimate, have a mover conduct a complete home survey. All moving companies should provide free comprehensive quotes with excellent customer service. If they don’t provide these or charge you for an estimate, that is a warning sign you want to avoid.

At Central Coast Movers, we provide comprehensive quotes and detailed contracts that outline all the costs and services involved in your move. This way, we ensure that you understand the terms and conditions clearly before committing to move with us.

Does the Moving Company Offer Both Local and Long-Distance Moving Services?

Almost all moving companies provide both local and long-distance moving services. However, it would be best if you double-check with the company as some movers only travel up to a certain distance.

Local moves are generally regarded as moving within your state, while long-distance moves are moves done across state lines. Long-distance moves are more regulated than local moves are, as they require moving companies to have a United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) license number.

Usually, moving companies who offer long-distance moves operate under the USDOT number of whichever nationwide van line they are an interstate agent of. Independent moving companies need to obtain their own USDOT number, as they are not aligned with a van line.

Central Coast Movers has your back, whether you’re moving across the street or across the country. As an interstate agent of Bekins Van Lines, with over 400 movers from coast to coast, our experienced team has the skills and resources to handle your move efficiently and professionally.

Does the Moving Company Provide Packing Materials and Services, and at What Cost?

While there are a few exceptions, all full-service moving companies offer packing services. These packing services almost always include packing materials in the cost. It is always a good practice to verify that with your moving company.

Central Coast Movers offers comprehensive packing services and high-quality packing materials to ensure the safe transportation of your items. The cost of packing services will vary depending on the size and complexity of your move; however, it takes the most tedious part of your job off your plate.

Is the Moving Company Licensed and Insured? What is their USDOT (United States Department of Transportation) Number?

Federal law requires moving companies to have specific licenses and insurance policies. While these laws can vary from state to state, it is standard for moving companies to have a USDOT number. Almost all reliable moving companies list their licenses in the header or footer of their website. Be sure to look for the USDOT, and if you can’t find it, do not consider that moving company.

Central Coast Movers is a fully licensed and insured company. As an Interstate Agent of Bekins Van Lines, our USDOT license number is 2256609.

To comply with the federal motor carrier safety administration, we also have an MTR and an MC license. Our California State License is MTR 0191083, and our Motor Carrier License is MC 770031.

Are the Movers from the Company Trained and Experienced? Are they Permanent Employees or Temporary Hires?

All reliable moving companies have a trained and experienced team of professional movers. You should avoid that red flag in all moving companies if they do not. Some companies may bring on seasonal movers for the busy season. However, top moving companies typically vet and background check their seasonal movers.

Our dedicated team at Central Coast Movers consists of trained professionals with extensive moving industry experience. All our movers are permanent employees, ensuring consistency and a high level of expertise throughout your move.

What is the Reputation of the Moving Company, and what Do Their Reviews and Ratings Look Like?

All moving companies should have a profile on a public reviews site, such as Google Business. This way, you can see all the reviews without the company filtering them out to achieve a particular look. All reliable moving companies should have an overall rating of at least 4/5 stars.

Central Coast Movers has built a solid reputation as a trusted moving company. This is reflected and proven by our 4.2/5 star overall rating on Google. We encourage you to explore our Google Reviews to gain insights into the experiences of our satisfied customers.

What is the Moving Company's Policy on Damaged or Lost Items During the Move?

Federal Law requires all moving companies to offer Limited Liability Coverage. This plan offers essential protection based on the weight of your belongings and has no extra cost. However, this plan only covers 60 cents per pound of your items rather than the actual value of the item.

Most companies also offer Full Value Protection Coverage, which comes at an additional cost. Full Value Protection Coverage ensures that the company completely repairs, replaces, or reimburses you for any damaged or lost items based on their value.

Our valuation options at Central Coast Movers include Limited Liability Coverage and Full Value Protection Coverage. When you move with Central Coast Movers, our team will guide you through the valuation options. This way, we will help you choose the best coverage based on your needs and preferences.
